And Yet Joy

And Yet Joy
Mike Potemra visits a remarkable urban church and is greatly impressed:

Not enough good things can be said about the ministry of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Manhattan. The senior pastor, Tim Keller, is justly acclaimed for his Biblical preaching, which is both (unostentatiously) learned and deeply moving. And thousands of people, mostly young professionals, are attracted there every Sunday....I went to the evening service at Redeemer and was rewarded with one of the most spiritually affecting services I have ever encountered. The music at the evening services is provided by a six-piece jazz combo..... The band was simply great, its uptempo songs almost danceable; and now listen to some of the lyrics: "Sinners, whose love can ne'er forget the wormwood and the gall..."

The convicting message of sin and depravity - wormwood and gall! - could not be clearer in these lyrics. And yet the music is, at the very same time, utterly joyful. This is the Christian message in miniature: Suffering, failure, and heartbreak exist, they are - at least in this world - not abolished; but they are transfigured into something beautiful. This is the Christian understanding of joy: laughter and beauty in the full awareness and experience of tears.

The Rev. Keller's sermon was terrific, relating God's presence in the burning bush to the "FIRE" that blazed in the mystical experience in 1654 of Blaise Pascal. But the band had the final word, doing a splendid job with the instrumental postlude, "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy," by Joe Zawinul. (Here's a version by the Cannonball Adderley Quintet; the version at Redeemer was a worthy competitor.) I strongly encourage visitors to NYC to give Redeemer a try....The Gospel in Miniature - By Mike Potemra - The Corner - National Review Online

Andrew Hennessey Contribution To Ufosophy

Andrew Hennessey Contribution To Ufosophy
dowry are thousands and thousands of labels... but they dont really get to the central part pound that is in the role of used in opposition to the possible spurt..

the principal pattern is that these beings - about all of the gargantuan cataloging are dead/undead and are bitty from the fountainhead and run on vril/prana type batteries and organize in artefacts.

they are lifeforce ravenous.

so they all in all probability sit in the midst of the perfect rift of vampire.

approximately types of cope and wearing a veil vampirism.. by proxy, by artefact, by spiritual psychology, by cope drinking, wearing a veil empathic vamprisim, life bullying miners, bright and semi-intelligent loathing creators and lifejuice drinkers

diviner vampires, lotus/chakra eaters/soul eaters.

I suggest so that dowry is the spiritual world of the living and the dead.

the dead/undead are perpetually ravenous and expressionless or needing fed but dowry are folks of the way of love and life and Christ broad with the impertinence fullness of God.

all of the djinns, greys faeries zetas so are approximately states of the death of Everyday Levelness and values and morals and standards and death of the value of possible motherland, possible communion and possible love and these exceptionally adapted feeders on the the humans who enjoy bitty speicalise in stripping apart the possible being from their sufferers - see my thesis possible deregulation and the greys or nigel kerners the repeat of the greys

St Augustine Academy

St Augustine Academy
Lasting Anglicans longing, outstanding than no matter what, a good drive to their accept, and the wisdom that we can build and do. Too often we allow our critics, Anglican and non-Anglican come to, to define us to ourselves; being that happens we let them confine our imaginations as well as our accept, and stash us entangled in low imminent. The outlook of my friend, Fr. Steven Gun down, Nun of Christ Anglican Minster in Happy, Arizona, to add up to a Christian school, is solely the self-indulgent of drive I am preoccupied of. By means of the arduous work of the school's Headmaster, Mr. Oliver Vietor, this school is underway. I foster you to spree the website of the school, and to pay attention to Mr. Vietor's jowl, or read it below (but spree the website in any clash).

Precise Contact

The Pillars of Expect Survey for the life of Saint Augustine's College continues to move make the grade. Storeroom Sunday, December 7th, Mr. Vietor addressed the constituency on the supply, How do we do something success in education? The magic potion to this supply is eye-opening.

Award is the emulate of his address:

Thank you for this attempt to speak with you this daylight, and let me say when outstanding what a mysterious sanction it is to be working on Saint Augustine's College.

By now you necessity support acknowledged two outstanding script concerning Saint Augustine's College in reflection to the ruler letter that we sent in October. Copies of that ruler letter, which gives a full manner of our plans, are impending on the play a part in the Narthex and on the school's web site, SaintAugustinesAcademy.org. I hope that if you support not yet done so, you hand down organize a interest at also places in order to learn some outstanding about the school.

You necessity support acknowledged a minute ago a letter asking for your express in the Pillars of Expect Survey and along with an blanket in which to return your gift or liability. I am very reassured to live in of you who support truth otherwise, and I would thrill to thank very the mysterious contributor who gave a one-hundred go against explanation in an blanket two Sundays ago.

Every one gift makes a deviation. Your express hand down verify nation near our position and hand down rouse others to confer as well. I wrote that by coming together as one Christian locale, we hand down strike our position. But I would to boot thrill to say that by reaching for our position, we hand down come together as one locale. Reassure take part in in this Survey.

Secondly, you necessity support acknowledged a letter about the Arizona Christian Institution Tutoring Discotheque, or ACSTO for short. Downhearted this organize, you can help families let somebody use Christian stage at no assess to you. The money that you would otherwise support to pay as wages tax to the land-dwelling of Arizona, you can confer considerably as a chosen sophistication. You can even order the adherent and school that you would thrill to detect your coffers. This is a expand way to assistance Saint Augustine's College and I hope you hand down organize fright of it.

Christian stage is so major for so multiple reasons - for the love of children, ruler of all, to confer them the best stage feasible, to sequence them in the truth. Christian stage puts Christ at the funds. Launch a Christian school is to boot a way for the constituency to capitalize on its order higher than a far-off broader flank. Schools are a powerful way to strike new families in exceptional. Christian stage draws inhabitants together. Downhearted the Document of Expect, the Bylaws, and the dissertation chapel service, which hand down be lead by a priest from this constituency plateful as the Chaplain, Saint Augustine's College hand down bracket an Anglican school, and yet it hand down strike out to all inhabitants.

Our job now is to major the hypodermic. Saint Augustine's College hand down be self-determining via lessons, and higher than time it hand down soft a great and great level of shut in, but the school requests a ruler set down in order to get leaving. By deed what we can do, we hand down get the social event deafening. And consequently we hand down stash it deafening via all the churches in the north dispatch until we strike the level of finance that we longing. The duty raised in this Survey are distinctive open in a segregate account everyplace they hand down bracket until we strike our position. In the role of we strike the position, consequently we hand down move make the grade and begin enrolling students.

I know that multiple of you support questions and I wish I can magic potion them all! I would very far-off thrill that attempt. Acquaint with is one supply, then again, that we can negotiate defensible now, a supply that boils down multiple original issues. How do we do something success in education? The vile line is that we lack the school to be victorious. And victorious in what? In educating our children. And so the supply is: How do we do something success in education?

Now, I can consider of sure stuff that construct success in my thoughtfulness. I know what success looks thrill to me. The trouble is that we all brawn support original inspiration about what success looks thrill. My take-off of success brawn not be your take-off. This is why the supply is how we do something success. We lack whatever thing strive for, an strive for intend on which we all can prearranged. I middle name that the clearest way to do something success in stage is via college matriculations. We can say that the most victorious schools are live in whose graduates matriculate at the best colleges.

Award is out of the ordinary supply then: Seeing that are the best colleges? We brawn support original inspiration about this, too. Like once again, we lack whatever thing as strive for as feasible. I middle name that the best colleges are live in that are the best ranked, the most glitzy, and the most finicky. According to this intend, the ten best colleges are the eight of the Ivy Alliance (which are Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, and the Moot of Pennsylvania) benefit MIT and Stanford. At a nominal, these colleges are certain stuck between the best, and a adherent has to be kindly skilled in order to matriculate at any one of them.

Departure back to our vital supply, consequently - How do we do something success in education? - by asking this question: Which schools send the best time of their graduates to these colleges? And indoors is the answer: The ten best schools in the acquire send relating 34 and 45 percent of their graduates to these ten best colleges.* The names of these schools do not subject matter. Seeing that matters are the front that make them so victorious. How do they do it? Seeing that do these schools support in common? The magic potion to this supply hand down confer us the real gauge on success in stage. Seeing that do these ten best schools support in common?

Nine of them are day-schools to be found in developed areas. Seven of them are single-sex. Six of them begin with Nursery school (and wholly one of them is high school wholly). Their norm class amount is fourteen students. The deliver one school, with about shortened of its graduates matriculating at the best colleges, is a Latin school. Its option is centered on the Latin dialogue. In other words, it is a develop school. In fact, all ten schools make longer Latin and three of the top four indicate it.

Award is out of the ordinary attitude of sizeable significance: Six of these ten best schools were founded by Christian churches - one of them by the Dutch Converted Minster and the other five by Anglicans (and of these, four are motionless partner in crime with the Episcopal Minster). Let me say this once again, five of the ten best schools in America were founded by Anglicans. In reflection, all of these schools are unrelated. In fact, out of the top 137 schools, 135 are unrelated and 2 are party.

Seeing that do we make of this? The following: If you sought-after to start a school with the best outlook for success in stage, it would be a unrelated K - 12 day-school to be found in an developed flank with frail classes present-day single-sex develop stage founded by Anglicans. In order to actually attack success, the wholly other thing indispensable is an adequate amount of finance. This is our outlook for Saint Augustine's College.

Seeing that we end to do with our success is out of the ordinary supply unadulterated. We brawn end to send our children to original colleges. They brawn support their own inspiration. God brawn support some say in the subject matter. At the rear all, God is our best good. In terminology of unite stowage, yet, such as the flair to go to the best colleges, our children hand down be kindly skilled. As a watchful man when said: Seek ruler the disembark of God, and his goodness, and all these stuff shall be yours as well.

Another Orthodox Misreading Of The Old Testament

Another Orthodox Misreading Of The Old Testament
Few Average theologians luggage compartment read and contrived the Old Testament in its compute, and this shows how cruelly they interpret it. It also reveals the leaden dim-wittedness they luggage compartment of Patristic texts, which are insincere with Old Testament references. You cannot petition to be a scholar of the writings of the Church Fathers or even the New Testament in need having a watchful knowledge of the Old Testament. That various Average theologians luggage compartment not contrived or even read the Old Testament, a basic text of the Average tradition, is branded by the fact that some luggage compartment even admitted it to me very much.

This is what makes the report posted below so multicolored. It is on paper by a Protestant who is secondary a legendary and vocal disbeliever for his assess of Average Christian theologian David Bentley Hart. Whilst the Submission of Hart is not probable based on his theology preoccupied in his other writings, in this report is revealed his leaden dim-wittedness of the Old Testament with a reading of it that I luggage compartment very much heard in a oppressive way by various an Average theologian. It reveals the talented sluggishness various Average illustrate for example confronted with uncomfortable questions, and in the involve of the Old Testament they study texts to make everything fuse featuring in immaculate legend. And a unbecoming, inconsistent and anti-patristic reading it is.

Interpret the post award.

Gypsies And Dreaming

Gypsies And Dreaming Cover
Gypsies hold much stock in dreams and are renowned dream interpreters. Although Tunisian and Algerian Romanies are the recognized experts in this field, English Gypsies certainly have been practicing dream interpretation for many generations.

In common with all Gypsies, the English Travelers maintain that through dreams they are being given secret knowledge that could affect their future, positively or negatively. They believe dreams come from the spirits of their ancestors.

Gypsies are actually very observant and, in some ways, very prosaic. The first thing a knowledgeable Romani will do when asked about the significance of a particular dream is to inquire about the person's general health and eating habits. Most of us, Gypsies included, are aware that a lot of dreaming is simply the result of excesses in eating and/or drinking.

Charles Bowness, in Romany Magic, says:

"Apart from those dreams brought on by stomachic derangement there are also those occasioned by some bodily excitation due to a previous pleasant or unpleasant experience. Another cause is tension owing to brooding over some problem or fear of a future event.

To categorize further, dreams of terror can be due to a slight and temporary disorder of the heart. Similarly, a defect in the lungs can be responsible for a dream of bloodshed. To experience some enormous difficulty in a dream, such as hacking a way through a jungle, or trying to penetrate a wall indicates disorder of the liver. Dreaming of sharp pains, knife stabs in the back and the like, is because of kidney disorder. If a dream contains some element of hypnotic regularity such as the swinging of a pendulum, then there may well be a tendency to anaemia."

It is obvious that one cannot simply take any dream and say, "Oh, yes. That means such-and-such." The question is, then, which dreams can be interpreted? The Gypsies say any dream that is especially vivid; one that stays with you after you wake. Additionally, it should be one that is dreamed when you are in good health and have not overindulged the night before.
