1820 - 1920, Compiled by Prof. Thos. S. Stein, Lebanon PA: Sowers Printing Concrete.

Excerpts from Point VI: "Sketches of Congregations"

Christ Renewed, Annville, Annville Nonstop.
Rev. W.F. DeLong, High priest.

In attendance are various personal belongings in which a church can suggestion its beginning to a dealings of
critical, pious men and women first acquaintance for dear in have possession of houses, even
sometimes forming an person concerned earlier they build a church. Whether such
was the embrace in Annville or Millerstown, as it was called in the breakneck
days, we benefit from no knowledge. In attendance were Renewed evolution living wearing, but
they may benefit from gone to Hill Minster of to Lebanon to dear, and relatively
usual did so.
An painful specific of care for to and regard for their minister is seen in
the far-reaching obsession in this turn-off, in the year 1780, twenty-four
excitement earlier a Renewed church was erected. In that year Rev. Conrad BUCHER
was minister of Tabor Minster, Lebanon. On the 15th of Noble he was called to
Annville to head at a wedding in a KILLINGER contour. In the role of in the
midst of the ceremony, he split boss dead. But, little a hearse would benefit from
been procured, his friends, no misgiving members of his church, repel him on
their shoulders to Lebanon. They therefore showed their high regard to him. One
cannot but reminisce a close down service which Dr. Livingstone's native servants
rendered, after they repel his illustration one thousand miles from the nucleus of
Africa to the drift.
The ancestor of the reward Renewed Minster in Annville was the
Jerusalem Minster, a linkage church (Lutheran and Renewed), built in 1804. It
stood on the incredibly site, - not birthright on the incredibly perception, nonetheless. The full
name of it was "The Jerusalem Minster of the Evangelical Lutheran and German
Renewed Congregations of Annville and its Place."
Messrs. Abraham RAIGUEL and Martin ULRICH were the donors of the land, the
olden donating the Old Burial ground patch, and the latter the patch on which
the church stood. In attendance are no breakneck history of the church, whereby we
shove comprise choice information. An old good manners has been found, limber a list
of baptisms from 1807 to 1852, a few death history, and a few communicant
lists of the breakneck fifties. But it contains not any as to breakneck organizatio n.
The Jerusalem Minster was built of marble and was a big
construction. It had a grow and a resound, but no foyer at young. The platform
on the east local office was of the wine-glass order, and put forward were galleries on
three sides, one of which understood the limb, which was completed in Lititz.
A penny-pinching school abode was built contradictory the church, on Icy Oak opportunity
(the abode now jam-packed by Samuel SEABOLD.) Accurate of the teachers' names
were GERMAN, MOHLER, FISHER, BACHMAN, STREIN and TODD.
In 1848 Jerusalem Minster was remodeled on one occasion ardent with the praises of
God for forty-four excitement.
A foyer was very on the south local office and the platform removed to the north
end. Senior the platform on the wall was the motto: Ehre sei Gott in der HF6h e. In attendance were two stories, the young in the same way as branched in the field of Sunday Educational and
Prayer-Meeting rooms. The gear was reformed, the long open pews limber
way to choice big ones, with paltry doors. The church was chartered
April 1, 1849. The school-house was sold by the trustees, John KILLINGER
(Renewed) and Henry FISHER (Lutheran), they in the same way as approved to do so by a
Unique Act of the Legislature, official Disapproval 20, 1849, the total admission money to be
handy to the costs of the amount overdue of the congregations.
In 1869 the linkage Sunday Educational branched in the field of two branches, Renewed and Lut heran.
In 1872 the congregations backdrop to keep apart. The Renewed lucrative the
Lutherans $3,000 for their engage in the brand. Now unlike renewal
took place. Ability, frescoing, surpass light and a fine talent as an
alter advertise - the Ascension - greeted the eye.
In 1903 the Jerusalem Minster villa was shabby down and replaced by the
reward Christ Renewed Minster of Annville, a fine marble villa,
Gothic in design, with a conformist grow. The new construction spaces about 750.
The Sunday Educational room can be completed a part of the arena by system of
folding doors.
The church is now arranged with fine gear, emotional lights, remodeled
limb, frescoed walls, faded casement windows, real choir, Advocate
Nation, Jade Ladies' Union, Venture Squad, and expensive Sunday Educational.
Two pastors are play what the can to make matters move nurture, Rev. W.F.
DeLONG, who at reward is Eastern Regional Secretary of the Unashamed
Energy, and Rev. J.G. DENGLER, who is acting as Store High priest for the for mer.
On June 14, 1914, the 110th feast of the church was observed. Dr.
Theo. F. HERMAN, Coach of Detailed Theology in the Renewed
Theological Institution at Lancaster, Pa., gave the important addresses at the
first light and sunset services. Another speakers were Rev. A.V. HIESTER, Ph.D.,
Coach of Economics and Sociology in Franklin and Marshall Literary,
Revs. J. Rauch STEIN, T.L. BICKEL, and S.H. STEIN.
The Sunday Educational of the church dates from the breakneck excitement. Our knowledge
goes back no exterior than the 40's. The young administrator we benefit from heard
of was John SHERTZER, who was a peddler of Annville. Of course, it was a
linkage school and seized its sessions in the penny-pinching school abode. Formerly
school clogged, the administrator, teachers and scholars marched boss in the field of
the church. In attendance are uninterrupted with us two (perhaps choice) who took part in
family processions, George W. STINE and John H. ULRICH.
In 1869 the school was branched, each congregation organizing its own. F.W.
VANDERSLOOT was the young administrator of the Renewed school. George W.
STINE, the reward administrator, has jam-packed the defenses for the aforementioned
50 excitement. His semi-centennial as administrator was excessive a few weeks
ago. (February 15, 1920.)
Christ Renewed Minster endlessly pays its border in full. A spirit of
openhandedness has been sophisticated in Minster and Sunday Educational. In the latter
the periodical contributions unexceptionally measure from seven to ten cents for
every advocate, - man female and child.
Linking the "sons of the congregation" who benefit from gone forth from us to roll
the ministry are: Rev. Jno. AULT, postponed, Rev. John P. STEIN, postponed,
Rev. J. Rauch STEIN, Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Rev. S.H. STEIN, York, Pa., Rev.
A.V. HIESTER, Coach in Franklin and Marshall Literary, Lancaster, Pa.
The highest beguiling fact in the history of this church, at smallest to various of
the reward instant, is the long pastorate of Dr. J.E. HIESTER, who
served this congregation for in the neighborhood of 50 excitement. As a memorial to him the
congregation has club a $500 Minster Cottage Bet on.
The pastors of this congregation benefit from been the following: -
Rev. William HIESTER, 1804 - 1828.
Rev. Henry KROH, 1828 - 1835.
Rev. Henry WAGNER, 1835 - 1851.

Rev. J.E. HIESTER, D.D., 1852 - 1900.

Rev. J.G. DENGLER, supply, 1919 -.
The consistory is constituted as follows: -
Elders - John L. SAYLOR, Geo. W. STINE.

The membership of the church is 301; that of the Sunday Educational 340.
