For now, I am just going to adore the art work. I really like the Elemental Queens. I have looked at each of the cards that she has created and also the key words associated and I am not sure I am going to click with them. For example the UNION card (below) would not be what I would associate with Marriage or Union at all, Dragon energy for me is more about the Astral realm, spirit guides and ancestors.
Also take the LOVE card, there is not a lot going on in the card at all, there is nothing beyond the love hearts, roses and the colors of the womans dress to give any sort of indication that this is the card of love. Love is a very emotive, powerful emotion and the card kinda feels flat.
I am not trying to bag the deck at all, I really do love Michele-lee's art work and I will definitely buy the deck when it is released, hopefully the book and the complete deck will be easier to connect with when I am able to hold them.

The pentagram is a five pointed star, encased by an outer circle. Its apex points upwards.

In the legend of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, the pentagram was his signature glyph and was used on his shield. We are told that this symbolised the five knightly virtues - generosity, courtesy, chastity, chivalry and piety.
The Knights Templar formed during the Crusades used the symbol of the pentagon in their architecture and designs.
During the Inquisition the pentagram was seen as a Goat's head or the Devil. In the purge on witches, horned gods such as Pan became equated with the Christian's idea of the Devil and the pentagram, for the first time in history was equated with evil and labelled the Witch's Foot.

The Church of Satan was an organisation that started out as a practice of following the Set, an Egyptian deity. For it's emblem they used the inverted pentagram after the Baphomet image of Levi. The reaction of the Christian church was to condemn Satanism as evil and of course this lumped all pagan societies together as Devil worship. The stigma of Witchcraft and its use of the pentagram has continued through to today.

Ah a question I have been asked more than a few times. I so wanted to be Glinda, from the Wizard of Oz, I was kinda obsessed with her dress when I was little. Now I do recognise that it is a little OTT. I digress.
Gillian Kemp has published multiple books and decks and this by far is my favourite. The designs are quirky the cards are about the size of a bankcard and there is more than first meets the eye with this deck.
The 52 cards are in two categories. Good Witches and Bad Witches, not only does this distinction make this deck interesting but along with the meaning of each individual card there is a spell that works with the theme of the card. There are also the elemental correspondences represented within the cards.
For example the Good Witch - The Fairy Ring Witch's accompanying spell is to Ring in the Changes of Good Luck. Similarly the Bad Witch - The Broomstick Witch's' spell is to Stop being asked for a Date by a Toad.
Some of the spells certainly are a little bad, but I am not really convinced that they would work; maybe the intent is to have someone feel a little better about their situation. Like all things intention is the key.
