Candle Magick For Scrying

Scrying is a popular form of Divination which involves seeing truth, knowing
what is happening around you in other places. It normally involves mirrors,
crystals, water or fire. This magick spell is devised to assist in scrying, not
to be performed alone.

Arrange altar in the following manner:

Goddess Candle and God candle in respective places.
Incense in the Center
White candle directly south of incense.
To the left and south of the white candle place Orange candle. Underneath white
candle place petitioner candle. Directly right of petitioner candle place
orange candle. Directly south of the Petitioner candle place purple candle.

Light Goddess and God candles.

Light PETITIONER candle and say,

"Here burns my spirit and power, wise in the Occult and steadfast in purity."

Light the WHITE candle and say,

"Here burns Purity, Truth, and Sincerity. They are with me throughout this rite
and beyond it."

Light Orange candles and say,

"That Which I scry is attracted to me as the moth is drawn to the candle flame."

Sit a moment and organize your thoughts. Decide EXACTLY what it is you wish to
see and say,

"Around me is built a wall of light;
Though it may pass only that which will harm me not.

Wisdom And Knowledge Of The Tarot

My journey with the Tarot began in September of 1984. At this point in my life, I was already aware of the fact that I was sensitive and I had intuition. I was also aware of the fact that I was having intense emotional life experiences. With this little bit of awareness and understanding, working with a counselor, to assist me in better understanding some of my earlier life experiences, would be the very thing that would open the doors to my path: the New Age.

Prior to these doors opening, I had just started a job, as a receptionist and had met and made friends with a very like minded and gentle soul. As my new friend, was already aware of energy and being psychic, because she had noticed energy around me, she would begin sharing stories of a psychic and magical nature. To say I was intrigued and wanted to hear more, is putting it mildly: the stories continued. Because she had been sharing psychic stories, I had asked if learning about psychic abilities could be learned and her answer was yes. Soon "L" would become my mentor on this psychic New Age journey.

This is when I stepped into the "New Age" and was introduced to the Tarot. Well now "L" truly had my attention. I felt strongly pulled to the Tarot and wanted to learn about each card and learn how to do readings and read for others. The urge was very strong, considering that I was a newbie on this path...so, I followed the path.

It would be during my journey on this new found path, that I would notice my life changing and my emotions amping up quite a bit more. As there was no information about meditating with the Tarot for these changes, I found myself drawn and guided to do this anyway. As my experiences continued to amplify, the Tarot became a guide and a teacher, for the deeper insight and understanding for these life changes. I also began to notice that the more I taught psychic/intuitive development, along with the Tarot, the stronger my connection to my awareness became.

It would be during this time that I began utilizing each card during breathing meditation, to bring deeper wisdom for the changes taking place in my life and changes taking place in my relationships with family and friends.

I began learning, that after meditating with each card, to bring peace, awareness and understanding to my life, I found myself feeling better and although I couldn't change the experiences happening in my life, or couldn't control others, I began learning how to reframe and communicate in a clearer and healthier manner.

For me, the Tarot, as a tool for mediation, in this new time of awareness, was the greatest of teachers and the greatest of gifts. For at the beginning of my journey, I had great difficulty in verbalizing and sorting through my feelings and emotions, especially before I understood that I had the ability to feel and sense emotions and feelings from others.

This has been a truly wild, inspiring and sometimes very exhausting journey and yet, when I look back how my awareness evolved and grew in understanding, just by learning and meditating with the Tarot: the gifts of awareness were priceless. The Tarot, as a tool for meditation is the best gift we can give to ourselves, in learning how to feel below the surface, from a place, where our soul knowing and heart wisdom can better guide us.

The Tarot as a tool for mediation is worth the journey of new discoveries, evolved awareness and deeper growth, in the changes that we are beginning to experience. From all that I learned, and although feeling a wee bit tired from this journey, I am thankful that I had this opportunity to learn about the deeper meaning of life, through my experience with the Tarot.

So, if you have an open heart and a flexible mind to consider something new, the Tarot, as a tool for meditation, growth and better understanding for life, can become a great teacher and a guide on your life journey.

What The Tarot Fool Can Teach Us About Love

One of the most common inquiries I receive as a Tarot reader is the question of Love: When will I meet Mr. or Mrs. Right? Although the Tarot often refers to future possibilities and potential outcomes, finding love is really up to each individual. The Tarot is a reminder that we are the instruments for our own destinies. We are like the Fool, embarking on a journey of self-development and self-growth. We have countless opportunities to carve our own paths and we are truly the masters of our own fates.

The Fool represents the individual that does not necessarily have courage, but does have the willingness to journey into the unknown. He is the risk taker, open and willing to explore new opportunities and directions. He personifies the child within, constantly trying new things and discovering new paths. His unbiased openness and vulnerability always enable him to learn something new. The Fool represents the potential in all things. He is there to remind us that anything is possible.

Unfortunately, as we experience life we distance ourselves from our inner Fools. Our perspectives and beliefs systems become shaded and biased. We become fearful of trying new things and taking risks. In love matters, we may have been hurt or disappointed. We no longer approach others with a vulnerable and open perspective. Instead, we are cautious and inhibited. We become afraid of rejection and criticism. We want to find love, but are apprehensive and tentative. So what does one do?

We follow the path of the Fool. The Fool is not concerned if he gets rejected or turned down. Instead, he happily tries again without concern, embarrassment or fear of failure. He does not care whether he looks ridiculous or foolish. If something doesn’t workout, he tries again. The Fool represents the part or ourselves that that does not care whether something is perfect or if we make a mistake. He is there to encourage us to continue on without hesitation or trepidation.

Finding love can be an adventurous journey. Tap into your inner Fool and allow the future to unfold. If you draw the Fool in a Tarot reading, it’s time to think outside of your box. Free yourself from feelings of self-consciousness and take some chances. Listen to your intuition and trust your process. The Fool reminds us that the journey can be just as rewarding as the end result. The true goal is to enjoy the trip.

Timing With The Tarot

Establishing correct timing using the Tarot is subjective approach, some claim it can be declared accurately others insist that Astrology serves as a better reference. Keep in mind that when you are reading for someone that when you propose certain time constraints you may be limiting this person to develop solely within the alotted time frame. Some people want to know exactly what day they will meet their new lover or when they will find a new job.

In all actuality most of these people are shedding their personal responsibilities unto the reader to introduce elements into their own life. As a reader I do not create your future you do, I relate the projected outcome by factoring in the speed & trajectory of your current course. I tell my clients, "If you want a new job, then start filling out applications today, if you want a new man, leave your current one and seek another... you have my permission to create your own reality. Do not wait for my cues instead listen to your inner self. My readings will reveal whether or not this transformation is possible and the influences surrounding it, but ultimately you will have to be the one to take action. The future is not slated in stone in fact you make it what it is, so take the responsibility yourself to create the life you want."

I always encourage independence versus dependence. Some querents view a magic date (one that is provided by the reader) as a day when what they want just falls into their lap. This is the very reason that they do not have what they want...they have waited their entire life for others to lead their development instead of relying on self-motivation. Seize the day! On the other hand timing can be very productive when used with discretion. I've always felt that in my readings that I reveal the essentials & it is then up to my client to act in their best interests. A good reading does not require specific dates but guides the querent towards achieving their desires when "They" are ready. The Major Arcana And Suits In Tarot Cards

It is very easy to learn how to read tarot cards. You do not need any special psychic abilities, although using tarot cards can be a very good way to develop your intuition, if you would like to do that.

You can approach learning to read tarot cards in a logical, systematic way. The easiest way to do that is if you have a deck of tarot cards where there are clear pictures. The Rider Waite deck of tarot cards is ideal for this purpose.

Traditionally a deck of tarot cards consists of 78 cards, which are broken down into five sections. These are the Major Arcana and the Four Suits.

The Major Arcana is made up of 22 cards.

If you see a lot of Major Arcana cards in a reading or a spread, then it is likely that those issues are very important and deep-rooted and that the impact of the situations may well be there for some time.

The Major Arcana covers virtually every aspect of your life. It can also be seen as a more spiritual journey and the lessons that need to be learnt to move through various life situations.

The Major Arcana also indicate personality archetypes. These may be things that we can recognise in ourselves or see in others. Although the figures in the cards may show as male or female, the characteristics can relate to either gender.

Major Arcana cards can also represent events.

Suits

The rest of the deck is made up of four suits. These can be compared to the suits in a deck of playing cards. They consist of an Ace, cards 2 – 10 and four court cards, which are Page, Knight, Queen and King. All the cards in each suit relate to the same element, which makes learning to read tarot cards quite easy.

The first is the Suit of Cups, which usually represent matters to do with emotions and feelings.

Astrologically they represent the element of Water and the signs of Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces.

The next is the Suit of Wands, which refer to matters to do with action, work, career, business, creativity, moving forward.

Wands are represented by the element of Fire and can point to the zodiac signs of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.

Then we have the Suit of Swords, which points towards mental activity and head stuff with thoughts, ideas, fears, logic.

Swords represent the element Air and the astrological signs of Gemini, Libra and Aquarius.

Lastly, we have the Suit of Pentacles, which represent money, material things, matters to do with the earth and the home.

Pentacles represent the element of Earth and the astrological signs of Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn.

The Major Arcana and the Suits are the cornerstones of learning to read tarot cards. Once you understand the general principals, it is much easier to break your learning down into bite-sized chunks.

Tarot Meditation On Cups

The suit of cups (also chalices, cauldrons, grails, hearts) is the suit of emotions. This includes love, friendship, trust, happiness, faith, and intuition, our gut instinct. How many times do we make decisions based on gut instinct?

How many times do we choose our friends, lovers and business partners based on this gut instinct? The down sides of this suit are fear, indecision, sadness over past losses, laziness, all of which arise when there is too little love, too little happiness, too little trust.

This suit is often illustrated with lots of water. Just like the Earth, our bodies are mostly water, and we feel the magnetic pull of the moon. We express all of our emotions with water. Tears, blood, sweat, orgasms, saliva when we kiss, and the water in our mouths communicate the way we sense taste. It is good to pay attention to emotions when making decisions. The decisions that are right for you feel good and the decisions that are not, feel bad.

Flow with your feelings. Let your self be moved. Follow the currents and they will lead you to where you want to be. When cups are the cards you draw, how do you feel? What do the pictures suggest you do?

Reversed Tarot Cards

Personally I generally try to avoid using reversed cards if at all possible. Before each reading I make sure that the cards are all upright, if a card appears reversed during the course of my reading as sometimes they inevitably it will I may interpret it as an energy blockage but I usually disregard it. This as with anything concerning the Tarot is a matter of personal preference. Just remember that reversed cards are not simply the opposite meaning of its upright interpretation as some references seem to indicate.

It is better compared to the retrograde motion of a Planet in Astrology, the influences of this Planet (card) are often turned inwards thus the outward expression tends to be somewhat awkward. A reversed card is not fully expressing itself to its greatest potential.

A method that you can employ to interpret reversed cards is to lay another card over the reversed card to reveal how the energy can be allowed to flow freely. This will determine what characteristics need to be developed to overcome the blockage or perhaps the blockage itself. If the reversed card is The Tower for instance it could indicate that you are suffering from a powerfully internal transformation. Your inner foundations are crumbling and your values are being challenged slain and overcome. This is in contrast to its upright position where it could indicate external transformation. You could then do another reading to see how this inner conflict could best be resolved and what qualities are required to overcome the adversity.

Remember that reversed cards often represent that we are unable to deal with the energies of the card and thus it is manifests internally. Spiritual readers may also see this to be representative of karmic challenges resulting from previous reincarnations. Reversed cards can also be viewed as a stalemate point of soul growth that must be worked through in order to evolve to your next challenges.

Read Tarot Without Being Psychic

You don't have to be psychic to read Tarot and get accurate answers to questions! You can do this just as you are. Well, there are some things to learn...

In 1981 or so I listened to a professor's lectures on 'Consistent Violators of the Laws of Random Distribution.' 'The Laws of Random Distribution' is a lifetime interest of mine. In these lectures, he mentioned Tarot as one of five known consistent violators. It was the only violator one could experiment with at home. So I went out and bought me a deck, luckily the Rider Waite one. I did his experiment, and of course got the same result. It was a question about the life history of the cards themselves, and seven cards would be more likely to appear than their random chances called for.

Obviously, there is something unique about these cards. I had never heard of them before these lectures, but decided to take them up as a hobby because, as a court reporter, all the time I had for anything fun was a few minutes here and there.

I ended up buying a dozen books on the meanings of Tarot before I decided the books are f.o.s. Then I begged my way into attending other people's readings with some psychics (whom I had never met before). I discovered that these professionals did not read the cards per se: They used the colors, or got an idea from just one of the cards. They mostly ignored them. (One psychic used the Gypsy witch deck, which has the meanings printed on them.) These were people who had clients whom they pleased. When I asked them how they read the cards, they each answered 'I listen to the spirits. You do cards. Don't you hear the spirits?' Uh, no...

This is how I ended up teaching myself to read Tarot. Fortuitously, the deck I purchased when I finally found where to buy Tarot was the Rider Waite one. Also fortunately, one of the books I randomly purchased was Eden Gray's The Tarot. It had accurate detailed information on the 22 Major Arcanae, one of the suits of Tarot. It had fairly accurate beginning meanings for the remainder of the suits, meanings which reflected the illustrations on the cards. (I learned to ignore the reversed meanings as needlessly redundant.) Her book was somewhere to start.

Using no psychic talent that I knew of, I asked questions I knew the answers to, employing the entire deck for each answer, 13 cards at a time—because 13 is equally divisible by 78 cards. The reason I wanted to use the entire deck each time was, of course, to get meanings equally for each of the cards. The reason I asked questions I knew the answers to was to be able to gauge how accurate my reading of the cards was; and also because 'you can't solve an unknown with an unknown,' a concept we learn in algebra even if we learn no algebra. I kept notebooks on each of these spreads for more than ten years. Gradually, I learned not only the cards' meanings, but, more importantly, meanings for combinations of cards. My court reporting background led me to adopt verbatim phrases for these combinations. I learned some other practical things,too, like what inquiries were more compatible with the Tarot process, and what questions not to ask...like 'when?'

Expanding the 11-card layout of the traditional Celtic Cross was fortuitous too: It created three divisions of the spread, the third one being the last card turning into three cards. I discovered the three divisions read as three sentences that repeat and support one another to the degree the information in them is correct! (The first division is the first cross, the 'Celtic Cross,' of seven cards; the second is three cards, one above the other, referred to traditionally as 'the tower,' not to be confused with the Tarot card of that name.) I NOW HAVE A DIVINATION TOOL THAT REFLECTS ITS OWN ACCURACY!

A tool that answers questions (a divination tool) that indicates how accurate the information in the answer is, that is based on logical thinking: This is monumental.

You can do the same thing. You can buy a Rider Waite Tarot deck, study each illustration that you relate to (temporarily disregarding the ones that you don't connect with) and apply two or three of those cards to a subject or question you have in mind. You will eventually get your personal individual meanings for combinations of cards well enough to have Tarot adventures with your own mind. You don't have to be a psychic to read Tarot. Tarot is, or can be, a logic based system any person can learn who can think in terms of themes and patterns.

It is wrong and irresponsible to change your life course on the basis of card predictions; take things lightly and you will neither be disappointed nor suffer some personal disillusionment because of faulty choice making.

How Does The Tarot Work And What Are Its Uses

To the rational mind the Tarot makes absolutely no sense. Who would trust a deck of cards, laid out randomly, to offer guidance in any important matter? No doubt that is the reason why the predominate clients, as well as readers are not male; since males tend to be much more linear in their thinking.

However to those who have come to see the synchronicity of life, that nothing happens without a reason, that there is a guiding Force behind everything, the Tarot makes perfect sense. Especially when the Universe is looked upon as not comprised of independent parts doing whatever they will, but of interdependent parts, then that Connection between all things and all action can help explain the process. For instance, today's scientist are finally catching up to the mystics, as quantum physics has shown that no experiment can be objective, that the experimenter's prejudices influence the testing. The Tarot might be said to do the same, showing the connection between reader and cards. A reading will show what the reader already knows on a subconscious or intuitive level, being that symbology operates from that realm. For example, suppose a man deeply desires a particular person. He is consciously aware of this desire. However, he inquires about his chances of fulfilling this desire to the Tarot. Yet the reading's outcome is the Five of Cups (depicting a sad figure looking down on three spilt cups, while two are full and await ahead of him). Now, unless his desire has so blinded him, his subconscious has communicated to his conscious mind what it already knows and needs. To forget that person and to move on.

What most rational people (critics, if you will) will ask is if the cards were immediately reshuffled would they be the same? Most likely not. The next reading may show the complete opposite answer. How can that be reconciled? If one lives by the premise that everything happens for a reason, then both outcomes have validity. Yet, perhaps not in the way the rational mind interprets it.

Every quality of humanity, as well as the gods and goddesses are represented by the Tarot, from the highest wisdom, compassion and love to lowest greedy aggression and victim playing. So any quality can be brought forth if it is focused upon and desired.

How Does One Do A Tarot Reading

Simple. One needs a deck one is attracted to. One might be attracted to a deck because of the art work, or its theme, its nationality or ethnic orientation, or time period (most decks are European Renaissance in style), or because of its popularity or simplicity. The whole deck may be used or just the Major Arcana.
A layout will be needed to follow, that will designate a meaning for each card position. Layouts can be found in the booklets that come with the decks or in books on the Tarot. A Tarot Journey

There is plenty of very good information about the Tarot, its symbolism and its origin. What I would like to do is share about the journey of the Tarot and all that it could and can teach.

As a kid and well into my 20s and 30s, I could always feel when something was going to change, sometimes it appeared not for the good, at least on the surface.

I could feel my mood swings and everyone else's mood swings around me. Pretty much not knowing where my personal space began or ended and where another's space began or ended. There were times, many times, where communication was almost impossible. It was bizarre to feel my words organized in my thoughts, but to speak them out loud, somehow the translation was lost.

It would be the Tarot that would assist, guide and teach me how to connect all the pieces for clear communication. Prior to my journey, learning about each card, I did read a bit on its origin and its symbolism. It was at this point, that I had not yet discovered that I was an empath, with high intuition. So, as I took a journey through each card, I found myself becoming clearer and more connected in my communication.

The Tarot is an excellent source of teaching, when wanting to have a deeper understanding about life changes. The Tarot teaches us how to open our minds and approach these changes from another angle, another perspective. Because we are living in very new and different times, consulting the Tarot, is no longer about predictions and outcomes, but a means to resolution, from another level of thinking.

On our journey with the Tarot, take your time and work with each card individually. Be patient with your learning experience. When working with the Tarot, this is the part of our life, where we slow down a bit and allow our intuition to develop and guide us on this journey.

And yes, our intuition does open and in the process of opening, we learn how to blend logic and intuition, to troubleshoot and guide us to our life changes. As human beings, when life changes come to us, they at first will appear as negatives happening in our lives. When we begin working with the Tarot, we begin to discover that the so called negatives of our lives, are actually new opportunities to better align with our life, at a deeper intuitive level.

We are all entering a time in our life, where common sense and intuition can act as a guide to our life changes.

The Fortune

THE FORTUNE

I've seen them before at carnivals and flea markets -- dark complexion,
colorful scarves around their heads, crow's marks around the eyes, often a babe
balanced on the hip. They're harmless enough, and I'd never before paid them
any mind. Oh sure, store-keepers complain about petty thievery, and a farmer may
lose an occasional chicken. But I'm no easy mark for Gypsy women. They leave me
alone. So it was strange when I saw two of them near the pawn shops on Larimer
Street; and the older woman said, "There's a man on a dangerous journey."

I pointed to a newly purchased camp stove under my arm. "Good guess," I said.
"Into the wilderness. So what else?" She stretched forth her hand. "For three
coins in the palm I shall tell what else."

I dug out three quarters and, wishing they'd been dimes, dropped them into her
hand.

"I see a difficult journey to a remote place where few travel."
"Wilderness," I repeated with an edge to my voice. "What else?"
"A high place. Very cold."
"Winter in Colorado. Another guess. Tell me what I don't know."

She dropped the coins into a pocket in her ragged old coat and turned away. As
she rounded the corner she paused. "I see death", she said quietly. She was
gone.

An empty feeling in my belly turned suddenly to laughter when I realized that me
and Chester were counting on a little death this very weekend. We were after
high-country Wapiti, the majestic Colorado elk that roam the flat-tops. With
any luck we'd put death to a couple of 'em before sundown.......

I saved the question til we'd packed the gear to a high meadow just below
Retribution Peak. I didn't want to seem too anxious for an answer. "Chester,
you believe in fortune tellin'?"

Chester kept right on settin' up the tent as he chuckled, "That what's got you
so quiet? You ain't said a word all the way up the mountain. Someone musta
told you a bad one."
"Gypsy woman said Something about dying in the wilderness."

Chester fell silent for the briefest moment before he answered, "Hell, you ain't
dead yet, so start drivin' stakes!" "Chester, you don't believe in nothin'" I
laughed, "In any case, I'm sleepin' with my rifle to-night."

By Saturday afternoon we'd scouted Three-Elk meadow without seeing any sign, so
we climbed the high ridges above the beaver ponds to scan the area. It was
almost dusk when we headed back through Medicine Spring a Ceremonial ground
where the Cheyenne once danced the ceremony of the sacred arrow. The Cheyenne
were long gone, but in our sights were a pair of the biggest, proudest Wapiti
we'd ever seen. The bull had already picked up the swish of our snow shoes when
we topped the rise, but Chester brought down the cow with a single shot.
Grandpa Elk got away, but we had all day tomorrow to track him down.

You might not think a Gypsy woman can see the future; and you might not expect
an elk to seek revenge for a lost mate; and I admit that in the dark of the tent
I never really saw the instrument of our destruction. But we awakened to a
bellowing like a steam train and we fired our rifles in every direction before
the tent finally collapsed. I didn't dare move until the morning light showed
Chester's skull was cracked, and a Gypsy woman's words were ringing in my
